Consumer & Now, Work Experience: they want it listed just like my resume, I start with my latest work experience and work back. Well, I have worked for myself for almost my whole career. Then, I list me first. Then I guess, I need to list clients. That's all I have, as if that isn't enough. They are who are important anyway. Even if I had multiple employment locations, the reviewers would probably like to have one employment verification and then two verifications filled out by clients, so that they can get a good picture of what I've been doing all these years. Didn't that CIDR person say, "Don't send three Verification forms from the same employer. We need to see a wide range of experience." Oh, I had some jobs a long time back, but all those people have retired, moved away or are, I don't know where. Okay, I guess I need to list (there that word is, again) three of my best and most complete clients (that are available to verify my work). I wish I had updated my resume, so I could just use that information, rather than writing al new. Hey, I can put the same written description in my work experience area (#14) and on the Experience Verification Form (#3). What did I do for Joe and Betsy Smith. Let's see. I want to be fairly detailed and sound professional. After all it will be read by professionals who will be reviewing this. Let's see, I want to use clients whose projects included items listed on the respondent sections of the verification form, such as: Conceptual Design, Design Documents, Programming/Specifications, Codes & Standards, etc. Okay! It could be as simple as: Joe and Betsy Smith Residence: 1,200 sq. ft. remodeling of the master bedroom suite. Including: space planning, finish selection, lighting and millwork design. We used existing furniture and purchased a few pieces. Okay, that sounds pretty good and is what we did. Next...Oh, that home theatre for Sam Moviefan... Sam Moviefan Residence: 300 sq. ft. remodeling of family room into a home theater. Including: space planning, ready-made millwork selection and equipment coordination with home theater supplier. Consultation with an acoustics specialist. Selection of interior finishes and selection and supply of furniture. Coordination for all phases of construction and installation. (continued) Okay, one more. How about Louise and Ted Client? I have been working for them for years. Okay, we begin selecting all the finishes for their new house, Then, started remodeling, as the kids started coming. Ted and Louise Client Residence: 4,200 sq. ft. Twenty year relationship beginning with the finish selection for new home. Remodeling lower level with 3 children's bedrooms, recreation room and two baths. Including: space planning, working with applicable building codes and barrier free issues (one child's in a wheel chair). Finish, fixture and furniture selection. Coordination of all phases on construction and installation. On going relationship as needed. Sometimes I feel like I am part of their family. How do you condense a twenty year relationship into a few lines? Oops, this may be too long. What can I cut out and still describe the project? Okay. Now I need to sign the application. Write check
for $20.00. Mail the application and check to: Now, the Interior Design Work Experience Verification Form. They use the same form for employers, friends and clients. I think that my clients will give better testimony about my design capabilities than anyone else could. Applicant's Name: that's me. My address. How long have I been working with the client. I guess I need to at least put the years on here. What is my relationship with the person who is verifying my work? Client The description written that I wrote above for the work experience can go in description of duties and responsibilities. Now, I have to send or take the Experience Verification Form to my client(s) (or employer if I had one). Ask them to fill out the rest. I could fill out their name and title. Then let my client fill out the rest. I need to remember to give my client a stamped envelope addressed to CIS, so that after they fill out their area, they can mail it directly to CIS themselves. All Done. That was not a lot of fun, but not that hard to fill out. |
